Icons of Fright recently announced they have added a writer of fine art and high culture to their staff. His name is Bill Shafer, and he hails from the sunny California.

From Icons: We are very, very excited to be launching a brand new column here on ICONS OF FRIGHT. We welcome new staff writer Bill Shafer, the owner of HYAENA GALLERY in Burbank, California. You may remember Bill from the very first episode of AMERICA’S BAD KIDS! Well, as we’re always trying to expand the site to cover horror culture, we invited Bill to talk about horror art & the happenings of the horror art scene exclusively here on ICONS.

In his first post, Bill gives readers an insight into what he does, and how he does it.

I’m Bill Shafer and I own Hyaena Gallery in beautiful Burbank, CA. I am the pus bubble staph infection on the ass of LA’s gallery scene. I am the middle finger that rises defiantly off the canvas and lodges itself up the uretha of every pretentious gallery owner on this sinking slab of Californian earth.

I’m already starting to like Bill’s approach. “No attitude, no egos, just killer art that speaks to the dark, deviant, and inappropriate sides of all our personalities. Selling $2000 prints to a herd of Juxtaposeur sheep isn’t dangerous, it’s retarded.”
Add to it the fact that he has his own successful gallery and his connections, and I’m sure we will be in for even more good writing coming from the staff at Icons.
