The Birthday Massacre
New wave revival outfit the Birthday Massacre formed in London, Ontario, in 2000 — originally dubbed Imagica, the founding lineup was comprised of frontwoman Chibi, guitarists Rainbow and M. Falcore, bassist Aslan, keyboardist Dank, and percussionist O.E. After recording a seven-song demo session, Dank left Imagica and the remaining members relocated to Toronto, where a [...]
System Syn
Clint Carney first began writing and performing music under the name system syn in 1997. During the first seven years of the bands existence, system syn self-released five full-length albums and three EPs, remixed over fifteen top electronic artists, appeared on seven different compilations, and contributed to a motion picture soundtrack. On top of all [...]
Suicide Commando
In 1986, Johan Van Roy began experimenting with harsh electronic music adorning the name Suicide Commando. After releasing nine cassette tapes, and having track appear on two compilation LPs and a compilation CD, Suicide Commando appeared on stage in support of Plastic Noise Experience in 1993.
Seraphim Shock
Having once been described as the ‘The Ultimate Halloween Band’, Seraphim Shock is a Denver-based project that is the brainchild of singer/songwriter/guitarist/programmer Charles Edward. In a world full of manufactured bands that do what they’re told and chase the record labels ‘flavor of the week’, Seraphim Shock stands proud with it’s middle finger raised! From [...]
Razed in Black
It was during the warm Hawaiian summer of 1994 that solo electronic composer Romell Regulacion deviated from his synth-pop outfit ‘Rime’ progressing to a more aggressive and intense nature – meshing hard-edged electronics, pulsating rhythms, heavy guitars, and screaming vocals. The new project, formerly known as Lost Souls, caught the eye of LA’s gothic-industrial mecca [...]
Psyclon Nine
Summer of 2000 saw a match made in heaven when ex-roommates Marshall Carnage and Josef Heresy decided to form Psyclon Nine. The band started out as a guitar driven industrial band, heavily influenced by KMFDM and Ministry, but the members soon altered their style towards the more aggressive sounding industrial inspiration of bands like Wumpscut, Velvet Acid Christ, and Suicide Commando.
Project Pitchfork
Project Pitchfork have deservedly established themselves as one of Europe’s most prominant forces in the industrial scene. However, to simply label the band as industrial fails to do their music justice, as they have a strong ethereal Gothic side to them as well, as is strongly evidenced by their two Aurora side projects, and a keen lyrical sense of social justice.
